Well, it is time for me to eat a little crow. Actually with a little sweet&sour sauce, it ain't too bad. (I ranted about the price increase last April)
I just recieved my new G-Tech Competition Pro and I love it! The price is back down to $250 for the whole package. Played with it on the way to work yesterday. This is one trick piece of hardware. :D An added plus: They are planning to release a Road Race version of the firmware that is an addition to the drag race firmware. :D :D :D
Right now I am trying to figure out how to mount it a little more discreetly than in the middle of the windshield, that is also a long reach. Can't wait to start getting some real results with it. Oh, I lve in southern Arizona and it has bee raining for two straight days.
I got one of those things these week too! They are very cool - much improved over the original unit. Now if this darn snow would melt so I could get my car out I would be a happy camper.
I'm interested to hear more about this... I've heard of people using it (not on vettes) and it gave less than accurate results. If yours matches your track times, though, that's sweet.

Re: G-Tech Competion Pro (Bruthish)
I'm still waiting on the road race version. It'll pretty much have GPS mapping capabilities on an autoX sized course, and show your cars speed, accel, and lateral Gs at every point.
That'll be a blast to spin donuts and have it trace it all out!
And my calculations indicate that chassis roll isn't a factor in this. With good software, you should literally be able to spin the G-tech on your windshield mount and still be able to map the car's trajectory and acceleration with great accuracy.
Bruthish, it can be mounted on any flat smooth surface at any angle. Usually glass works best. The unit comes with a permanent mountng stand as well. The mounting suction cup is much improved over the old design - capable of holding up to 100lbs of force.
i created a custom mounting bracket so that as soon as that there is minimal vibration to the unit and it truely measure the accelaration of the car and not the added noise of the engine and cam shake. Its 3 accelerameters, so if its "shaky" its going to screw up the readings of what the car is really doing
I would like to figure out a slick way to mount it where the A/C vent is at the top of the dash, just to the right of the steering wheel. I do not want to chop anything up. I'm thinkin I'm thinkin...
