As far as "Stealthiness"- I have seen on several shows that Corvettes are infact "Stealthy" against Radar (Not Laser). When a radar pulses out it needs something reflective to bounce it back- If you are driving a car with NO front plate, and NO headlights (cause they aren't popped up), then it will take longer for a cop to get a read on what speed you are traveling (assuming he is shooting from ahead of you). I've heard that cops aim for the plate because it is extremly reflective.
That's not true at all. Radar bounces off of objects (doppler), regardless of their composition (except something made out of absorbing material). It's impossible to select just one car out of a pack with Radar. The only thing that effects Radar is weather and the size of the car. Now with Laser it's totally different. P.O.'s do aim for the bumper of the vehicle due to the fact that Laser does not reflect well off of glass (i.e. windshields). And take my advice when I tell you to save your money on Laser detectors....Sure they work but when it goes off it's too late....they've got you. Just figured I'd share some insight with everybody and let you know that we're all not out to bone people....well at least some of us!!!!

That's not true. There is a reason radomes are made out of fiberglass. It's because it doesn't reflect radar very well at all.
I think it is how you are driving but at times I am sure some officers like to give out tickets to nice cars which would include ours. They feel that most sports cars tend to break the rules more often which in essence is probably true in most cases.
I think Yellow is the worse color to attract attention. Lots of Red cars out there, I don't even notice Red that much anymore, Yellow catches your eye.
Why did you say White cars are BAD? I have a white daily driver 93 and I would think White would be a great car to be stealthy in......

Yeah but the whole car is not made out of fiberglass...thus something to bounce off of....trust me I've had many vette's in my sights and they're no different from any other car besides the size (which has an effect just like a Chevette)

I was refering specifically to your remark that radar bounces off all objects no matter what the material. You are also incorrect about Corvettes showing up the same as other cars the same size. They do have an advantage.

I have a 42' fiberglass sailboat with a 66 ft aluminum mast, a cast iron turbo diesel engine and I have to hang a "radar reflector" (special device designed to reflect radar waves) to be seen by other ships radar! Fiberglass is DEFINITELY harder for radar to see!
I got my Yellow vert in December. On New Year's I was pulled over and given a warning for doing about 5-6 over. They were just looking for drunks so they let me go. In January I was pulled over for not using a signal for a lane change. $250 ticket :bs . The next week I got a Valentine One and haven't had any problem since. The cops do seem to like yellow.
There was a writeup in CHP a long time ago by a cop. He basically said he looks hard at anybody standing out. So, if you come plowing down the road in a bright sports car, you are going to have a better chance at getting caught then the black mini van next to you. But the bright one is going to get more attention from others as well though. And, the Corvette part already makes you stand out let alone a bright color. Plus the cop gets to go brag how he chased down a Corvette this afternoon.
Motorcycles are police magnets, I've been followed around way too much on my TLR.

I really did have a fat azz police officer say Corvettes are a little harder to get a reading off of at range because "they got that pointy nose, but dont you worry I can still get em"

Because the radar is bouncing off of the radiator, the frame, license plate, etc. When the radiator went to a slanted model in 90 or 91 they got much harder to get a lock on.

Any Vette is a ticket horse.......

Especially if your wearing a hooded sweatshirt with the hood on during the summer, or a ball cap on backwards, or a bandana tied on your forhead. It's like saying "BUST ME!" :lolg:
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
