Looking to buy a Vette to drive back and forth to college. About an hour or so trip.
Looking @ a '96 w/ 89k miles, but it's clean. Guy wants $14k.
Is this too many miles to consider as a daily reliable driver??
Also , I have a 1985 with a decent paint job , new seats and sunvisors, new fuel pump, radiator, headlight motor but here's the kicker. IT has 190k miles but still runs strong. Does not burn or leak oil but has a small transmision fluid leak. (About 1 pint every two weeks) WHat do you think I can get for it??
A 96 for $14k good buy.
Commuter? No. Not that the car won't do it why subject the car to all the road damage. 89K miles will become 125k in no time.
For a commuter car I look for a car with 50k or less.

Re: What do you think??? (Slingshot)
Actually you'd be pretty surprised. These vette engines can be very wierd. I've just turned 134k on my motor and it seems like it's running stronger and stronger the more I drive it. I plan to do a swap soon to a 383, but it's just wierd to see. I get the feeling this motor can last well over 200k. I do of course take care of it like an obsession. I give the motor alot of carb cleaners and I use a micro-lubricant called Z-Max every 6 months(tranny, engine and fuel). I know no two vettes are completely alike, but mine seems to go to crap the less I drive it. Thus when I drive it daily or atleast start it up and rev it lightly for atleast ten minutes or so, the engine seems to act like an escape convict on PCP or something. LOL. Maybe mine's just unusual, but that's what I've been doing lately and it's been very reliable for the last 8 months or so with the biggest problem being one of my louvers popped out on the highway yesterday(most likely due to turbulence:D). I used to have a problem like every month at the least before this. So it really depends on the vette, that's the best I could tell you. Test drive it at various speeds for a while before you buy it.
