I wasn't even gonna bother with this, my paint was so crappy :nonod: I thought nothing could be done for it that would really improve the appearance much accept new paint.
But I ran into aguy who said he could get a LOT out of it, so I took a chance :) and he gave me a great deal. Buffed it out today :smash:
From the things he was talking to me about it would seem that there is a lot of new technology in this area. I gotta say I am impressed and vey happy with the results. This car will blind ya in the direct sunlight now
Just something to think about if you think your paint is a lost cause :)
who did you goto up there in bevertown! just a courious salem owner? :seeya :seeya
This is a guy I work with and we were talking one day and "one thing led to another" Next thing I know and he's polishing my .......VETTE :jester He does it as a side thing. I can get you contact info if you like. And, oh yea, that's Beavercreek  Proly about the same distance from you though.
GS057, he was using a couple different products, one was Auto Magic I think. I don't recall the other. Cut, Polish, Wax. I can get more info if you like. One thing he had that I really liked and know wasn't around when I was doing a little body work was a velcro wheel on the buffer and all the pads just stuck on and ripped off. Why didn't I think of that :smash: Also, some foam or sponge type pads that I had neverf seen before.
Thats how my car was. Front had sap drops from where the guy stored it under a pine tree. :mad
Middle was the metallic red.
Back was where it was out of the shade, and faded to nearly a pink color. :mad
So it was like a fade, with sap deposits. I spent about 8 hours with meguiars color restorer just from the door back. Then I spent about 2 to get the sap marks off the hood. Then I used a Meguiars polish, and spent about 4 hours on that. Followed by some gold class wax.
It went from a faded, chalky, oxidized pink that was the actual color and not just the clear coat, to where you can't tell it was anything but garage kept.
I'm up for racin' now (in the slow lane against you, of course) but my car isn't, could be this weekend, but more likely two or three. Depends on when I can get the valve train fully checked and cleared. I'm no threat to even the meekest challenge at this point unless I wanna risk some serious damage. I think I got pretty lucky with the broken rocker stud about a week or so ago.
Max, if he's workin' for beer...He can drink A LOT
Looks great Colin. You'll get your engine problems solved soon enough. At least you don't have to worry about your air pump elim. bracket. :seeya
