Had the rosewood in mine, removed except for the bumper side, still working on the flat panel to go there... replaced with all new origional parts... even had the door inserts, but replaced with new panels...
I have it in mine. The only reason i am keeping it in is my vette used to be my father-in-laws and he loves it. As long as he is around, I will keep the wood. I will say that he did do it right. It is real walnut burl laminated on 3/8" plywood base-very stable. I just refinished it and it looks very nice-but not my style-I am an original look kinda owner. :D
It is a love it or hate it scenario... The wood dash was in my car when I bought it, and I've grown very fond of it. It all depends on the quality of the kit. You can pick out a cheap kit a mile away....
For a change, I've considered making my own black/blue/kelvar dash kit using my existing kit as a template. It would be fairly straight forward. Make the base out of 1/4 MDF, then laminating it with the CF. A buddy of mine makes rockets, and is a whiz with laying ultra smooth resin.
There are numerous sites on the web who sell CF sheets...
The only one I've seen that looks good is in my dad's car. He has the light wood grain. It goes along with the light tan interior and Red Copper Metallic paint. The full kit was in my car when I bought it but I took it all out and sold it on ebay for $110! It was even fraying in some places and I got a great price. Anyway, just depends on your interior and how you accent it. Don't do too much.
to me, it just stands out too much because of the intense brown. Now, if they would make a black woodgrain(like speaker cabinets and so on)...that would be awesome.
This is the Burlwood kit I got off eBay for $150. It is a 12 piece kit that covers the full dash doors and back speakers. It is very easy to install with 3m tape alrady attached to the backing
