As for the glass breaking. The vent hatch does leave your glass more of a chance to take an edge shot, and this is what breaks tempered glass.
However the back glass on these cars is very thick and very strong. Tempered glass bends quite a bit befor it gives way. The only way it will implode is if the glass is already bruised.
Me three. I've got one for both vettes. I use mine during track events also. With all the twisting and flexing there, if something were going to break it would. Nothing has broke yet.
They let the back window sit open by about 2 inches, so air can go straight through.
That can reduce interior temps by about 20 in summer, and the buffeting you get with the top off is gone with the vent in place. I cant stand to drive without the vent in place.
I have the MA piece and it works well and seems to be a quality product.. The thing that worries me is going much over 100mph and the rear window being able to take the turbulence.
Rear interior light wont turn off with rear hatch vent hook on
Used mine all last year with no problem....I put mine on yesterday in the afternoon and noticed the following morning my two rear interior lights were on...
When i close the rear glass with the vent hook on the two rear interior lights wont shut off.....

So Yeah. Some like to open the windows when we drive and the car looks great when your driving.
Cabin airflow is wonderful when touring the mountains or coastline.
Lots of great aroma to enjoy with the AC turned off.
And it's not like your gonnna leave it there forever.

I def like it for the airflow ....Much less drag on the car...The air has an escape route and it cuts down on wind noise..

The cheapie one I had rattled. So, last year I tried the one MA sells, and no rattles - a really sturdy piece. For about the price of a tank of premium - it is not that expensive, and very well built - not flimsy at all.
And, as others have said, having it allows nice air flow - you get the full ambience of the road; the breeze and the smell of the flowers and fresh-cut grass...something I've missed since I quit riding motorcycles.

I just found this part in my car. It was in the rear compartment under the manual. I never go in that compartment and I never used it before either. Going to try it on the next nice day...
That picture looks like the same Rear Hatch Vent that Corvette America sells in their catalog for $24.99. I was wondering if you could still close your hatch with this device still in place, or does it need to be removed?
broken 3 what?
I've used one for 20 years and have never broken anything
Back in the day I remember quite a few posts about the Mid-America style one breaking. I don't recall ever reading about the Gadgetman style vent breaking.
