OFFICIAL WRECKED CORVETTE TOPIC
Ive been wanting to do this for a while.
This is a topic where you can tell about corvette wrecks youve been involved in, or youve seen. Post pics if you have them.
tell what happened, how you, the car fared, how "the other guy" fared...
But please, no pics from the wreckedexotics site, unless its your car of course.

I've told this story before, but in May 2002, I was center-punched on the driver's side by a Ford SUV. I never saw the other vehicle; I woke up in the ambulance. Fortunately I wasn't hurt seriously, thanks to my seat belt and an air bag that deployed when it wasn't supposed to. My head and scalp had many, many cuts and from going through the side window, my left side was badly bruised and I suffered a concussion. But I "walked away" from what could have been serious injuries. My 1992 Corvette Coupe was totally destroyed. I threw the pictures of my Vette away because I couldn't stand to look at them.

This was a friend of mine in college. He bought this 84 new, and it only had about 17K when he took it end for end a couple of times at better than 110. Yes, he was intoxicated. Both him and his passenger lived, and weren't even seriously hurt. They weren't wearing seat belts, as it was legal not to at the time this happened (1986), and they were both ejected on the first flip.
The car hit nose first, and the ground looked like a mortal shell had hit. There was literally a 3 foot deep crater.
Both of these guys are extremely lucky to be alive.

I was driving my 1991 home at about 2AM driving next to a cop, we were goin through a 4 way intersection, (Pretty big road) the cop made a left, i went straight, there was a guy driving the opposite way trying to make a left as well.. The cop blocked his view I guess and didnt see me, drive right into me when i was doin about 50mph. He wa sin a 88 Cheerokee. He rocked me..... I wasnt hurt at all... Although my car was. I was wearing a seatbelt and bymeslf. I got some "rugburn" (if you will) from teh airbag that was it... The doors were jammed shut, the Targa top broke off,So i had to climb out the top, And hte nitrous bottle ended up in the Passanger seat... (Good thing no1 was there or hit me. Prolly wouldnt be here to tell you about it.

Back in 85ish I was with my mom (too young to drive) in the judicial area of fairfax county, and we watched a 70-72 Vette run a red light and hit another car. The front end of course just broke up. That is the only Vette accident I've actually seen.

This is a 1990 that wrecked locally. The man was going down a hill at no less than 130 MPH. He careened off the highway, hit a concrete embankment, and bounced through a barbed wire fence. Pieces of the car were scattered over an incredible area. The spare tire was more than quarter mile away from the main wreckage. I talked to an EMS worker who worked the accident, she said it was the worst thing she'd ever seen in all her years of working. Luckily, he didn't suffer because he died instantly. He left behind a wife and two teenage boys.
My dad bought the car after the accident, but very little was salvageable. He put the motor in is '84, and I have the black seats in my '89. We also have the transmission.

Years ago my father (he's a dentist) had a patient who lost control of his Corvette vert (would have had to have been a C1 or C2), spun under a semi-trailer and just happened to be sideways when the trailer's rear wheels went over him. Both the front and rear of the car were totally demolished but he found himself sitting in what was left of the passenger compartment in the middle of the highway, completely unscathed...

Wow, I think I'll drive a little safer now. At least for the next few weeks. Keep this thread going. It will help some of us to slow down.
