Re: Oil Changes (CBR Rider)
I don't run synthetic. I do mine every 3k of course, but if you're running synthetic you should typically do it every 5k. Those of you that do it every 3k with synthetic though, I don't blame you. I'd still do it every 3k even with synthetic. Logically it could never hurt the vette, only the wallet. I clean my K&N every 6 months and re-oil it at every 3k, typically every oil change cuz of dusty conditions.
when the "change oil" lite comes on.....using Mobil1...on my other cars using dino oil every 5-6K....I thought it was interesting when I bought my last Ford I got the service package with it...the oil change interval is 5K....but if you dont buy the service package they recommend every 3K....so when they are paying for it its every 5 when you pay its every 3....with modern oils changing every 3K is a waste of oil.....unless you are doing some really hard driving...ive got 200K on my Taurus using dino oil and change between 5-6K...vette has 107K on it and neither one uses any oil and pulling a valve cover reveals a clean engine.....
Amsoil here - the "extended life" 0w-30. Change it every 15,000 or so - about twice a year. I swap out the (also amsoil) filter about half way through the oil change. The amsoil air filter gets washed and re-oiled at every oil change. I put a bit over 100 miles a day on this car - and drive it all year round. About 150,000 on it now and adding up fast!
