I read several posts about the removal of the frisbee and the ability to pick some free HP. What is the function of the frisbee and is there a performance type replacement for it? or can you get by with just removing it. Thanks for the feedback. 90' L98 auto. 28K miles [IMG][/IMG]

You bet there is! You can send it to Eddie's Performance Parts in Minnow Lake, MN. They can modify it, chrome it and will send it back to you with instructions! You can't believe the difference a high performance frisbee makes. Dollar for dollar its your best HP value.
Thanks for the input, I will keep watching for the number and ask around some of the local speed shops here (N.VA) if they have any mods for that.
From what I have read so far it looks to be just a damper of sorts for the serpentine belt, when the A/C kicks on. I have looked at mine and I think it has bolts going itno the water pump.
Don't worry about being mechanically illiterate; that is only a matter of time and desire, mostly desire. Just pick up a GM Shop manual and a general tool set at Sears and you are on your way.
I find one of the pleasures of Vette ownership is working on miine.
I removed mine a couple of months ago. Read the instructions on 65Z01's website. He made it pretty easy. The whole project cost 45 cents for lock washers. I noticed that it revs a little easier without it. Just do it, there is really nothing to worry about.
Okay, I'm off to check out your website and find out why there is a frisbee on my car and how to get rid of it. Is there a downside to removing it from a '90? Thanks for the advise!
On my "89" Vette, all I had to do was loosen and remove four bolts, remove the serpentine belt and then remove the frisbee and put the four bolts back in along with the serpentine belt.
I didn't have to use any washers to take up the frisbee mounting depth and the waterpump pulley turned freely.
Total removal time was about 10 minutes using my 3/8" air ratchet.

Nothing against Eddie's I'm sure his chrome performance frisbee is top quality but I went with KaleCo's carbon fiber frisbee. Brand name "Revs Up". If you're gonna do a serious mod like that why not go all the way. Just my take.
there is some big legs being pulled by a lot of youse guys, right? about the frisbee stuff.. or what... do i have to start buying up all the stock oem frisbee stuff to save for the future...some one has to....john

Hell yeah! They may be fillin' their diapies now but when the future Vette peeps, (if they haven't all gone rice) stumble on a barn find, "Wow, Kyle, that's the most original C4 I've ever seen! It's even got the frisbee still on it! "Yeah, you know how much those cost even if you can find one?"
My wife wishes I'd throw that stuff out. That's why I have so many boxes in the top of the garage. There's stuff up there that belong to cars I haven't owned for years.
