Default '91 headlight replacement

Anyone have instructions on how to replace a burned out (low beam only) headlight for a '91 C4?

Try "Tech Tips" under the "TOOLS" tab at top. Or the Search function. Ive got an '85, so I'm not sure if it's the same. :seeya

You have a sealed beam headlight (H6054). You cannot replace just the low beam. The H6054's run around $10 each. To replace, rotate by hand (using **** on motor, half way. Remove the two screws on the sides of the headlight cover. Remove the two screws below the light on the headlight cover. This will allow you to remove the body colored headlight cover (not the flat door part, just to clarify). Then remove just 2 of the screws that hold the metal retaining ring around the headlight bulb (either upper or lower, doesn't matter). Bend trim ring down some, remove bulb and unplug from harness. Then reverse the procedure. Very easy. I think you need a T10 for two of the screws that hold the headlight cover on. Rest of the screws are all philips screws.

:iagree: Be sure you don't remove the beam alignment screws. It's pretty obvious which ones they are if you don't rush into it (two per that have a bit of the trim bezel cut out around them). The first time I replaced my headlights, I rushed into it... :bb

The owners manual has great instructions on this procedure. Further, I would recommend replacing both headlights since they will usually burn out in pairs and the newer one will be brighter as well. Further, you may want to consider plastic lens as oppossed to the glass since they will put less of a strain on your motors and gears because they weigh less. I am not sure what year but my OE are plastic.
Good luck,
Mark
