Default Stereo/Speaker Question

I have the non-Bose system with cassette only. My left front speaker is blown. I'd eventually like to replace the whole system, but for now all I can afford is maybe replace the front speakers. Can the front speakers just be replaced for now ?

sure... with a non-bose system, it isn't much of a problem at all.

Some fairly nice 5.25" coax's will fit just fine.

Infinity, Polk Audio... just a couple of brands to check out.

On the non-Bose system, the front speakers are 4x6. Very easy to replace. Unscrew the door sill carpet and lift off, the speaker grills are attached. Then 4 screws holding the factory speaker, unplug, then reverse. I went with Polk Audio Pro Series 4x6 plates (4" mid and 1" tweeter), sounds a lot better. I also replaced my rear 6x9's with JBL Pro Series as well. Fronts ran me $150, rears ran me $200. Great upgrade! You can then tolerate the cassette deck a little longer. :) I had the same thing in my 93. Finally upgraded to a CD/MP3 Alpine in the dash.
