Default Thanks Ohio law enforcement for letting me go!!!

I got stopped just off of 271 in Cleveland on my way to Twinsburg to my gf's parents house, doing 48 in a 25 !

Being from NY, we don't have speeds that low, and I thought the trooper was a paramedic becaues of the blue lights, but he ended up letting me go. He even had a second car come, I thought I was donefore. The coolest thing was though that they started asking me about my car after they said they'd let me go, asking about the B&B, and stuff. THANKS OHIO!!

In that area you were indeed lucky; I'd been ticketed there several times and outrun (well outsmarted) one on "the good old days"...lol

Be glad they didn't issue a citation. I am pretty sure that at more than 20 over it would have be a MANDATORY court appearance.

Ohio is jerky with 25mph limits, that no one obeys, but when you get a ticket they refer to 25 not the 40-45 most people would be driving.

This mandatory court thing happened to me a couple years ago, I was probably going 5mph faster than the norm, but ended up in court....don't remember the speed, but about 50 in a 25 where most were traveling 45, so not really very reckless or unsafe.

Oh, on the interstates in Ohio, a good guideline is no more than 9 over, at 10 over they start issuing citations.

It was 2 years ago today, I remember cause it was my birthday, I got a ticket, in my Vette, for 65 on a four lane divided highway in rural southwest Ohio in light traffic. Oh it wasn't limited access so the speed limit was only 55.

Thank you Ohio for taking $100 plus from me on my birthday. By the way the trooper claimed to be a fellow Vette owner, said he wish he would have known it was my birthday before he wrote tickets. That was the second cop who claimed to be fellow Vette owner who stopped me for what I view as "minor" infraction that gave me very costly ticket.

That's reason #2 why I avoid Ohio at all costs (#1 being Ohio's sickening concealed carry laws).

I grew up in Cleveland (Chesterland - about 1/2 hr. southeast of Cleveland) I never really had a chance to "speed" as the cops don't have anything better to do than write speeding tickets... Now Florida is like a whole new world, Stop signs are just a suggestion... Red Light means the next 4 cars better speed up - plus the cops are so busy busting the "real" criminals they don't have time to watch us driving too fast. But, there are lots of violent and deadly crashes down here! On the highway you'll need to travel about 10 to 20 MPH OVER the speed limit just to keep up with traffic! Now mix in all the old people who drive 10MPH under the speed limit, add all the "new" teenage drivers and you're in for an interesting day! Oh, I forgot to mention all the drivers from third world countries like... Bahamas, Cuba & "NEW YORK"! LOL I find it rather funny - that my wife, her whole family and everyone I know from NY / NJ has someone else's paint on their bumpers. Did I mention ROAD RAGE????????? I suffer from that, down here... and I no longer carry my GLOCK 17 in the car anymore - because I'm too tempted to use it (again) Did I also mention we have a loop hole in our laws down here - everyone knows how to beat the ticket with a lawyer... no points, no traffic school, no court appearance! I think I'll see how fast I can get home tonight from work!!!! - without speeding

Sounds like you got lucky.

The ohio state patrol usually cuts no breaks. 48 in a 25 is fast too.

They must have legitimately believed you did not know the speed limit.

Blue lights?

They have red and blues just like most police cars. Their new cars are white with a tire and wings going thru it on the side.

Their old cars are charcoal grey with the same emblem....
