Default C4 weight... :D

I've always heard numbers around 3300lbs or 3250lbs for a C4 Not too bad, but we all know how weight affects acceleration so I wanted to shed a few pounds

So I was at the waste/recycling center today....Anyone weighed theirs under this number?

Not too bad for an all-iron block/heads V8

BTW, that's with no muffs and no spare. And 1/4 tank of gas (4bars, range:75 @avg:18mpg. Afterwards I put in 12 gallons to full...)

The lightest I ever got in my '95was 3168, that was 1/3 tank, no spare or carrier and most of the junk cleaned out of the hatch area.

My '93 weighs in at 3234 with Weld wheels, no spare, jack or carrier, no junk in the hatch. But I do have 9 coils and an air compressor and a tire plug kit, jumper cables and a tool kit.

Nice!

Although I'm not sure how accurate those truck scales are... they're mostly to measure difference in weight.

I measured mine on a 40 ton calibrated truck scale and got 2980 lb.
The 10 ton scale read 3030 lb.

This was with 3 gallons gas in the tank (18 lb), without me in it, and mods from stock weight are... spare tire delete, muff elims... and some other misc crap. Maybe if we put hydrogen gas in the tires...

BTW, if we factor in fuel weight on both cars, and I use the 10-ton scale reading... yours is just 20 lbs heavier... what other differences haven't we accounted for?

But anyways, what prize do I win?

My '96 weighed 3490 with about 1/3 tank, me inside (170lbs), my helmet, and a few wrenches and stuff that goes to the drag strip with me. BUT now i have added the X-brace which is worth the extra weight.

Intresting. I had mine weighted last week 3360 with a full tank of gas (hadn't driven anywhere), 2 12" subs in the back, spare tire, A-molds.... but not me.

IIRC, mine weighed right around there aswell. Only thing I "removed" would be the spare. When I go to the track, I usually figger a raceweight of 3350lb.

Actually the production weight for them in 1990 was about 3150 or something like that but the lightest I've ever hit was 3100 on one of those scales. I have mufflers though. I don't know how accurate they are either, but it's safe to say it should usually be between 3100-3200 lbs on average for any year c4. Then again keep in mind alot of us have aftermarket stereos and speaker systems that aren't exactly paper-weights.

You're right, the calibration for these scales may not be too accurate for our 1.5 ton cars But I didn't ask him about how this particular scale was calibrated...

And I don't know any other way to explain the extra 20lbs You got some lighter headers?? Or how much smog stuff did you take off. I know they got about 200lbs of that crap on there

I'll try the hydrogen gas next time, but I wonder how it'll affect my traction And how hot can I get the tires before they blow??

Yeah, I was thinking that'd make for a hell of a burnout as soon as the wheels struck the pavement.

helium seems more reasonable, easier to find, nonflammable, etc... but that would be a cool look

When I was in Bowling Green Corkvette & I weighed our cars. Remember, both are 85's, he has 434 and I have 383.
Mine weighed about 3300 with me in it (+190) and Cork was close to 100lbs less.
We believe the difference has to do with a combination of small items. His Intake weighs less, his exhaust (all Stainless) is considerably less weight than mine and many other small items. I think my car and I, need a diet!!!!

Both cars have no spares and no front sway bars.
