volt readings
What should my volt readings be on my 86?I was driving my car today and the red light came on showing a 11.2 volt reading at idle.As I increase speed light went out and volts went up to 12.5 to 12.9.I thought it should read around 13.1 or better.

Check your Alternator, mine was doing the same thing, when I start the car it was around 13.3 and it should be over 14.0, the more I drove it went down to 11.7 or below when I stopped, when I took off again it went up a little but not much. I got a new alternator and now its at 14.0 or better when I start my car, and 13.6-13.8 while I'm driving.

Mine reads mid/upper 13's even when hot.
You cannot trust that in-car gauge, always check with a voltmeter. Mine is off almost .6V
