Hello Everyone,
I am on two weeks of R and R after spending six months in Iraq. I come home and she wont recognize either one of her keys, so I am guessing it must be the contacts in the ignition cylinder. Of course Im in Germany so it will be hard to get parts. any advice so that I can enjoy the autobahn in the summer before returning to Iraq for another six months?
You need to get a VATS bypass kit, but I see how you'd get it there before R&R is over. First you'd need to get the resistance number from the pellet on your key (1-15) and order the kit based on that.
You should try some of the Corvette clubs in Germany, with the larger number of Vettes there you might get lucky and find someone either who has them.
hi, thanks for the advice..
yes I have replaced the battery, and I have checked all connections. a pretty good german mechanic here is trying the resistor idea posted on an earlier thread to create our own bypass kit..unfortunately there are no radio shacks here, so we have to order ,but with overnight delivery from nuremberg, but it should take only two days...wish me luck!!!
The first order of business is to thank you and the men you fly with, for your service to our nation. Secondly, if you need anything procurred and shipped from stateside, let me know and it's on its way. e-mail is ventrej@msn.com.
hello out there again,
Im due on a plane now back to iraq for another several months...but the local german mechanic was able to find the proper resistor to bypass the vats in the same manner as posted on this forum..so thank you very much for your help..I drove my 93 LT-1 to Prague and ran around the autobahn at about 150+mph on my final two days of R n R leave and I must say it was a blast..only sad thing was the turn singnal lever is worn and non-op, and the bose finally died, so if there is any help to be had on that, let me know! thanks..and thanks for all the kind words of inspiration..
