I would like to buy a new part for the driver's side door panel on my 96. Basically, it's the plastic piece that surrounds the side-view mirror control and the window switches. It attaches via 2 screws in the "cup" part of the door (what you'd grab to close the door once you're inside)... Know what I'm talkin' about?
Okay good. Now here's the dilema: I've heard that this part is only available with the orange lettering, and 96s have white letters. I got this information from a local corvette-only parts store. The chevy dealership lists a single part that is available, but it doesn't give any mention as to the color of the letters. I asked the guy, "If it isn't the correct piece when it comes in, can I opt not to buy it?" He said, "When it comes in, it's yours..." (Read: "No.")
Anybody know anything about these parts or have a hookup on where I can find the appropriate (new) part? Thanks in advance!
Try Contemporary Corvette 1-800-367-8388, he will have used ones, but don't let that stop you from getting one, and if I'm not mistaken I think only the white ones are available, same with the radios. Who knows.
When it comes to parts that are the same, but with a slight cosmetic change, the part you get will be the part put in the last model year car.If I had a part number I could do some digging.
