remove cat?

Is there any downside of guttering the cats?
Will the sound change? (allready have freeflow mufflers)
What is the aprox. gain in Hp and trq, on an otherwise stock car?

Yeah, you pollute the environment for a minor increase in HP.

Keep the cat on or do the environment a favor and buy some random technology cats

I removed mine on m z71 truck and added a flowmaster system well a custom system with a 50 series and it sounds great and I feel like I probably picked up 15hp mainly due to removing the cat..the truck had about 150k miles when this was done so the cat was probably clogged.

While the Random Tech cats are great, it costs a whole lot more than gutting it. So, where do you want to put your money?

Removing the cat can make your not pass a smog check with very little horsepower gain.
You'd be better off with headers and a cat back system.
