The Colored Lines
The colored lines are put on the individual components as they are manufactured.
These lines help the tire assembler line up the components as he builds the tire by wrapping the individual components on a slowly spinning drum. Each component is lined up in the proper place using the guidelines and some laser line projection lights.
There is more to producing a tire than most people think. There are innerliners, plys made of rubber impregnated fabric, and cushion plys, tread, sidewalls and also bead rings made of steel.
After the tire is assembled it is then put in a mold and is cured into the shape we are used to seeing. It also goes through some balancing and finishing machines before it is ready to ship.
