A problem I have is wanting to wave when I'm driving a car other than my Vette. I'll see another vette pass by, and it just feels wrong not to wave!
I do that too and have caught myself waving while in my truck and getting looks like "uhh, do I know you?"
I wave at all Vettes, all nice vintage and rodded chevys and to most exotics but the only wave I have for rustangs and ricers is the good ol' middle finger "you're number one" wave. hehe. Not really, I just dont wave at them unless it's a return wave.

All other Vettes get the standard wave when I'm in my Corvette.
All Vettes get the thumbs-up when I'm in my riced VW or truck.
All cool (American) cars (Vipers, Camaro's, Impala SS, etc)
get the thumbs-up when I'm in my Corvette.
All imports get ignored, no matter what I'm in.
I get lots of waves in my neighborhood from not only Vettes but lots of Vintage cars and muscle cars that pass by the front of my house Since they see me drive around the hood with my Vette or when my garage doors are open . Or maybe its that big Corvette flag on my flag pole either way I always wave back no matter what they are driving .
I have owned my 89 for almost a year now, and I have only had one person return my wave. C3's,4's,5's it doesn't matter.
Maybe it So. Cal. Now I have better things to do like enjoy my car!!!
I think the wave is a great tradition and it is a shame when someone is either ignorant of the tradition or ignores it.
The only time I haven't waved was on the saturday before last while my Car was running like crap and I was preoccupied with making sure the thing didn't blow-up on interstate 44 between OKC and STL. Rest assured when it is up and running I will be a waving fool!
When I'm in my vette i wave to other vette drivers most of the time they will wave back. Sometimes when I'm in my daily driver I'll wave ( i know i have a vette) I'll wave and get the who the heck are you look. Opps.
I wave at all vettes and even other nice sports/muscle cars ...like camaro ss's, chevelles,..you get the point pretty much all old muscle cars I just love old camaros, gto's, chevelles....could go on and old I love cars in the 60 and early 70's
This is what I do as well....always to ALL vettes.....and whenever I see a great American bowtie classic like a 60's Camaro, Chevelle, etc.
Just can help myself... see a vette ... the hand goes up I think some of the other vette drivers in town are starting to recognize me as I drive by in my Silverado.
But, ya know, I'm not gonna sleep til that silver haired fellow in the white C4 waves back. Ya gotta be gentle with those types, don't wanna confuse em ya know. I don't wave at him less I'm in my vert, then its the high five, no question about it type of wave.

Corvettes wave to each other, or they should.
My 1st vette was in 1968, the wave was a reflex reaction back then. When you see another Vette, you would automatically wave.
Now its a little different, some don't wave for some reason.
Me, I even wave to pedestrians who look at my Corvette in an admiring fashion.
Why not, it doesn't cost anything.

Really! The article points out an interesting thought that some may find interesting....
"There is no excuse, however, for the guy who refuses to return a wave, not out of ignorance, but of arrogance or apathy. While this type of behavior is the exception to the rule, it seems that a few owners of newer models [remember, this was 25 years ago, 1969 -- Phil ] refuse to recognize anything older than theirs, while some others simply won't wave, period. Boo on them."
So based on this new evidence, the Cx(5) guys are just keeping the "cool" tradition going....
I have yet to get a wave from a C5 owner. My brother says to just give them the finger. LOL. I wouldn't do that, but's it's still funny.
I have had the opposite experierience. Before I relocated the ZR-1, I would get plenty of waves from other C4's and C5's. In town there are a bunch of C3's, but I never got a wave from one of them. The C3 owners are mostly locals while the C4/C5 crowd are generally transplanted milatary folks. Maybe the locals don't better.
