On an engine with low CR, like 8-9.5, Iron heads are going to perform a bit better (with port sizing and chamber cc equal).
The biggest advantage for AL is the weight, you might save 30-40lbs off the motor by going to AL heads. You can run higher CR without running into problems.

Aluminum also has the advantage of being more repairable should they be damaged, which is especially good the more money and work you have in them.
