Evening everyone. I just had to post this to see if I'm right. Was talking to a guy today and he was trying to tell me that his 94 Caprice cop car with 3.73 gears and 190K could outrun my 93. I said "are you kidding?" He then tried to tell me that he could easily do 170mph. I asked him if the lcd speedometer was set in kph. He just looked at me. I then said no way, let me go home and get the Vette and prove it to ya. Of course he didn't want too.. Now I know my 93 does not have a great top end with 3.07 gears, on the dyno it topped out at 124.7 in third gear. I can't see it going much faster then that. But a 94 Caprice with 3.73's I would think on a good day would be done by 115mph.

The one thing these Caprice guys forget, not even counting on his high miles slowing him down, is how heavy those Caprices are.
They are flat out pigs. I've had they come up on me and leave very disappointed. Corvette engine does not mean Corvette speed.

Yeah. The Caprice is made for cruising and chasing, not quick acceleration. (unless this guy had a ricer before, mebbe that's why he thinks the Caprice is fast. Let him drive yours 
)

I was having a similar discusssion with a buddy of mine who is a floirda highway patrolman. He was telling me that the police cruzier toped out at 130, maybe 135 without the light bar. Only the Camaro police cars would do about 140 to 150, depending on how good it was tuned.

Yeah its true, The Caprice was a real Pig...all over the road...I much prefer the Crown Vic...but still even with the Police Interceptor....not a match for a fairly late model Vette. As far as a real true "high speed pursuit" an officers driving skills would overtake most people who ,aside from a small few on ideal track conditions,can not handle 140+ under stress without oversteering their way to an overturn . But that aside I would take the Vette over the Caprice any day

So does anybody know what a 93 auto w/3.07 would top out at?? Given a really long straight a way? Downhill? With a tailwind??

I don't think 3.07 are gonna hold you back that much.....what did it come w/ stock? 2.73's?

Still laughing!!!!!!! No, it came stock with 3.07 performance axle. Thinking about going up to 3.55's in the near future (by wife standards a few years).
