Default tail light bulb replacement???

How do you replace these bulbs?
The repair manual says to go from underneath, reaching around the muffler's tail pipe. (can't make my arm bend like a snake to reach the bulb)
A mechanic told me to remove the rear tire and splash guard, then he said you could get to the bulb. (still can't reach the bulb)
Finally removed the license plate. I was able to reach the bulb (barely).

I'm sure that there's a simple solution, but I don't have a clue.
Any ideas?

Are you serious? Not trying to flame you, but each of the 4 tail lights have 2 screws (hex or philips head) at 3 and 9 o'clock....that can't be what you mean....is it?

The round tailights have to be changed thru the hole behind the liscense plate. Its even harder to replace all four housings and harnesses. Replaced mine with LEDs.

Once you reach the bulbs, the socket has a tab that needs to be depressed and then twist the socket. This is the easy part.To get to the outside bulbs go between the muffler and bumper. On the inboard bulbs go through the plate. Its not easy as youve found.Your better off finding someone with small arms.

Default no lens screws

Forgot to mention that it is a 1985.

evitagenone, kenv & z51jeff -
you hit it on the head. thanks. the round lens' bulbs are a PITA to change out. Unfortunately, I didn't think to use LEDs. I know I'll regret it next time.

Thanks for all of y'alls help.

Mid 90-96 C4's have the square tailights with the screws. Unfortunetly, the 84- early 90's have the PITA to change round ones. IMHO they look way better and keep with the traditional round tailights that Corvette is known for from the begining. But what a PITA they are to change. Beauty always has a price.

Au contraire, the squarish lenses of the later C4 are BY FAR the more stylish!!
