I remember it well.
The summer of 1968, clocked at 110 MPH on the Garden State Parkway, in my 1965 green Corvette coupe.
State trooper stopped me in my 1st Vette.
Trooper:"The court date in September 28".
Me: "I can't make it, I start college on the 15th".
Trooper: "OK I'll make the ticket for 85MPH so you won't have to go to court".
I Got lucky. I don't remember amount of the the fine.
2 other speeding tickets since:
1 in 1991-Speed trap.
1 in 1996 76 in a 55 zone.
Currently no points on my license--I'm such a good little boy.
This is my 1st baby doll.
I got stopped in '85 for 130mph in a 55 in a new Mustang GT, (I was 19 and had just started college). He wrote it for 120+ because he did not have it on radar and advised that he was doing 120 and I was pulling away. I don't remember how much it cost. I was just glad to not be in jail.
88 in a 45.....that was not cool; ticket was ~$250; went to court, it was my first ticket and I was 17 (only 18 now...) and they hand out probation like candy, so it didn't go on my record.
I really try not to speed in my home state NY, it goes on your license and insurance. BUT BUT BUT, when I travel outside NY that's another story. I don't remember the exact $ amounts, but Utah was the cheapest, Kansas wanted to make some kind of fishy deal that I didn't go for, so that cost me about $100.(I think that was for 95+ in a 65, near a 'town' exit). Texas was very obliging and gave me a seat belt ticket instead of speeding. Maryland you have to watch out for, they don't take any nonsense, and literally try to trap you or hide in the bushes. I heard that Ohio has a similar situation. Somewhere out in New Mexico or Arizona, I was going so fast I hit the rev limiter on my Intrepid-weird feeling, the car just seems like it hit neutral. My most recent: this weekend on the Garden state Pkwy, in NJ. I was traveling just as fast as everyone else, about 75-80 in a 65, when 2 cycle cops came up behind me, I moved over, slowed to 65, and they motioned to ME ONLY to slow sown, I guess a Vette looks too intimidating, and may cause other motorists to move out of the way. Nice of them, guess they saw that I was a Veteran by the plates on my car. (most of the above stories were not in a Vette, except the last)

Five years ago was driving my buddies Mustang that was tricked out. Anyway got caught doing 60 over in a 40 zone while taking part of a non-sanctioned acceleration test with a turbo Probe. Actually it was more like playing around showing him that he could not keep up. Anyway, the revenue generating officer looked in the car and saw the roll bar and asked for all the papers, at which time my buddy gave to him. Officer then asked if he always let his friends drive his car like that. Of course my good friend responded with the "he drives it better then me response". I thought life was over. The officer came back with a Violation of Basic Speed Law ticket.. 2 points and $75. I shook the officers hand and said thank you. I guess it does pay to have your license in your hand and on the wheel with the window down while he walks up.
i was doing 88 in a 55 on radar while i was going to St. Louis on active duty in the vette...after i told him i was on active duty, he told me to take off the tinted license plate covers...i was really happy
I did a realy dumb one in 1969.Ran my z28 camaro up to a 150 mph with a chp behind me ,did not see him until he was about a mile back.
I let off and he pulled me over and arrested me.Total speed he said 149 mph I spent one night in jail paid a 348.00 fine 6 mths suspention of license.
Last month I pulled another good one, waited for all the cars to get way out in front of me so the road was clear 2 am.
I saw some headlights. Thought I would go before the car caught up to me.Well I hit it and then hit the nitrous .All said and done the car was a cop and you know he could not catch me.He did not turn on the lights.
Well turns out I knew the cop and he called in 5 more cars long to short
115 mph fine only 182.00 and insurance only went up 200.22 dollars a month.Next day I was stoped for seat belt ticket 77.00 dollars and the next day front license plate ticket 55.00 then I put on the hard top and changed the wheels and I havent been stoped in two months.
