Default Speaker Replacement Questions?

I have a 91' coupe so there are two speakers in the back and two up front below each door in the sill/rocker panel. I am going to put a (2)6x9s in the rear, but was wondering if I should put two up front also or go with some 6.5s or something else in the front? Just looking for suggestions or to hear from those that have replaced all the speakers. TIA

If you have a Bose factory radio just replacing speakers will not work. The speakers from Bose have amps in them and they work with the Bose radio. You will need to replace the radio also. If you change the radio, you will need to replace all four speakers.

there is also an adapter that allows you to use normal speakers with the Bose - search the archives...

on the speakers, i kept the stock Bose enclosures and put 5 1/4's up front and 6" in back. i used some strip foam used on the bottom of garage doors to seal the fronts better since the aperture is slightly smaller than the speaker. it looks really hokey but it works.

the rears fit fairly nice. my speaker kit came with tweeters and crossovers too - definitely recommended.

I am replacing the head unit, that is why I am replacing all four speakers also. My Blose doesn't work good, so it is coming out. Also wondering where to mount an amp?

i think your 91, like my 92, has a cubbyhole behind the passenger seat. might be a good place.

I've seen them mounted behind the seats. Or against the back wall (on the coupes).
