I have a 96 coupe which has deceided to not let me start it unless I disconnect the battery. This stops the blinking of the red light on the lower dash board between the steering collunm and the driver's door.
This all started last week when I left the dome light on and ran the battery down. I used a portable starting unit which is provided by my employer, General Motors in Wentzville, MO and upon hooking it up, the alarm system went nuts and whooped and blared until I disconnected the charging unit. I reconnected the charger and the car started. When I got home I charged the battery and when I went to start it to go to the Effingham, ILL. Corvette show last Saturday, it wouldn't start due to the blinking red light. Ihad to drive my pick up, how embarrassing.
It will start after I disconnect the battery and reconnect it, but after it is driven and turned off, the blinking red light comes back on and arms the anti-theft system and won't activate the starter motor. Please help me to disable the anti-theft system. My remote key entry buttons also will not work now. Thanks for any advice, Bruce in St. Louis
Thanks for the reply, I just contacted a local alarm installer and made an appointment for tomorrow. He stated that at the very least he would disconnect the alarm and allow me to start my sweetie.
