I just had my 86 painted and it came out great. I drove it about 5 times since, and yesterday I noticed that the right front of the hood is resting directly on the front nose, while there is a big gap on the left side between the hood and the nose. Of course, the paint on the right side of the nose cracked a little, though not too noticeable.
I was able to raise the hood without tearing up the paint, but I have no idea what happened. I first suspected the hood hinges, but they seem solid and don't look like they have slipped or broken.
The cracking will get worse. Mine was painted before I got it...on the front nose and rear deck there are lots of cracks.. You can notice them unless the light hits it the right way..and they are not noticable from even 5 feet.
Id take it back and make them fix it...That way it willl match.
Have them adjust the hod so it properly opens and closes. It doesn't sound like anything is broken, so a simple adjustment should do the trick. Then have them fix the "oops" on the paint. It will get worse...it always does. Its better to get it fixed now than later.
