When I stand on the car in low it upshifts at about 4900RPM (In other words it is shifting early based on the red line on tach)
When I am running along at 1000RPM the speedo registers 46MPH. I mention this because I am not sure if the tach is way off. If the mph/1000rpm's is right with each other then I have a premature early upshift which is costing me the last 600RPM.
I will take this to the Tech forum if I have an upshift problem.
With a 700R/4 the only to alter the WOT upshifts is to change the weights and springs in the governor. B&M makes a governor reclaibration kit for just that purpose; it sells through Summit for about $30 or so.
I have 2.59 gears behind my A4 and in 4th gear with TC locked at 40mph I'm turning 1k RPM & at 80mph it's 2k RPM. My tach agreed well with the dyno on several pulls.
What year is your car? If you have a L98, that seems about right for the upshift at WOT on a stock engine, but it you have the LT1, then someone who owns an LT1 car will chime in and help.
I have a 93 coupe with an LT1 auto. Stock tires and stock 3:07 Diff I am indicating 46MPH at 1M/RPM
With this gearing are my Speedo and tach about right or is one of them not registering correctly.
If they are correct to each other then I have a problem with the upshift at full throttle being premature at 4900RPM and will have to go the Tech forum to find out how to change the shift points on my car
