Neglect
In the past 10 months my poor 86 has seen no love. I bought a building and moved my business and since then, have not even washed the car, let alone take care of it. The only oil change it has seen is when my wife ran over something and punctured the oil filter.
The exhaust is so tired its laying on the "X" frame. The left muffler is rotted thru. The rear bushings are shot from my wifes run in with the "object". The smog pump is whining. It's lost its shaded parking spot at work and the black paint has blistered on the hood and the rear deck looks so bad, I dont mind resting my cofee cup there while i fill up on gas.
It has been driven practically everyday through TWO huricanes. It has seen deep mud, floods and massive amounts of debris, which now has caused a small leak in the radiator.
The little 383 has taken it all in stride. Except for a worn distributor gear, it has given me no trouble in over 2 years and 20 plus thousand miles. It still Rock & Rolls and gives me that sideways kick letting me know were accelerating the wear on the 315's.
So, this is to let my car know i may not be keeping up on her, but I am thinking about her. I will be installing the smog pump eliminator, ditching the cat and running a true dual "x" pipe through some Flowmasters, and replacing all the bushings with (hopefully) delaylum. And if this new business location pans out (and Florida can miss a huricane or two) perhaps some paint in a year or two. It may have to settle for later than sooner, cause right now I'm still too busy. Atleast I got some stop leak into the radiator today...
You know its bad when Summit, Jegs, Corvette America and Mid America stop sending you catalogs...
