I finally got around to messing with this switch again. It was exactly like you said. The rod popped out of the switch. But now my question is, where does that rod connect to the wand?? I can't see a spot for it to push that rod. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Before you start loosening the steering column you should disable the supplement inflation restraint (SIR).
Ign Off
Remove AIR BAG fuse
Remove lower trim panel LH
Disconnect the Yellow two-way SIR connector and Connector Position Assurance (CPA) at the base of the steering column

FYI the DERM system retains sufficent voltage up to 10 minutes after the ign is turned off and battery disconnected. This is why you remove the air bag fuse to break the loop.

Also the switch they are talking about is sitting just forward of the steering attach point upper left side.

Reverse to arm the SIR.

This may help:

Your problem is this little guy.

The rod that pushes on the switch sets in the half moonand the high beam lever puches against the other end. I had to pull the column out to fix it but someone else here was able to get it back in without pulling it. I don't know how, but he did.

If you need any help just ask.
Also unhook the bat. I would hat to see the air bag go off...
