I had been thinking of getting a lt4 and still keeping my 95 vert but I have been seeing hte 05 stangs on the lots and thinking they look HOT and the price is right too. Well today getting gas I saw a 05 silver stang but it said shelby GT so they have shelby editions out with nicer wheels wings etcetc....
anyone else saw this car!? it was SAWEET! I might just jump into one of those instead of another vette I have always hated stangs but for around 27k for a brand new one how can ya go wrong? I say I can get one for around 24k
anyone else like this car? ofcourse I still like my vette more it's a sports car but for a mustang they got it right this time.
Ok after doing a little research what I saw was the saleen edition I THINK...here is a picture of one but actually the one I saw was a bit different...I coulda sworn I saw shelby written on the side fron quarter but it mighta been saleen bc I was a good ways from it.
pretty much looked like this but this isn't exaclty the version he had

You can go wrong by... buying one?
Seriously, I like the '05 Mustang also. According to C&D, the solid axle '05 outhandles the previous IRS Mustang Cobras. But, how about this:
Take that same $27K and buy a nice ZR-1. Now, THAT would be doing it right!
If I had an extra $27K laying around, that's what I'd do....
I like the styling as well. I thought about getting one ( and keep the 'Vette, of course ), but I've since changed my mind. I was under the impression that the GT was going to come with a SC DOHC 4.6 but instead comes with a NA SOHC 4.6. 300hp and 315 ft lbs just seems a bit too wimpy. Good for a $24-5k car, but not nearly the kick of my LT4 that cost me less than half the money and will not depreciate much at all. I just finished reading Hot Rod magazines review after testing and they give it really high marks, especially in the changes to the suspension. This new one handles nothing like last years version according to them. Not even close. Still, to get to the performance level of the LT4, you'll have to spend some bucks.
BTW, HRM couldn't put it through the lights, but they estimate 1/4 times in the high 13's.

Don't buy a new one (let someone else take the depreciation hit).
I'ld buy a `96 Vette over a mustang anyday.
Although, my first impression of the new mustang is not a good one. I work at a Corvette shop, and last week an owner of a new mustang drives in and says he wants to show us Chevy guys what a real sports car looks like. I wanted to look at it, but since the guy was being a jerk I told him to get the f-out.
