First time Vette owner storing an 86 in a Garage, not heated. I have it covered, full tank, Dry gas and added Sta-bil in it. Battery still connected and I will start it once a month. Anything else that should be done ? I live in PA.

Your doing the samething I'am.. Might want to think about a battery tender just incase you forget to start her or that the weather gets to nasty to pull her out. I bought a 8X12 ft piece of carpeting to park the car on (I heard it helps with dampness) and placed a pan under the motor/trans to catch the drips.

The carpet makes the garage look cool and shows your neigbors that you pamper the Vette when it is not driven. JMT

Sounds about right. If you're not going to drive it jack the air pressure up to max in your tires. A trickle charger on the battery doesn't hurt either. If you're worried about mice, place some bounce sheets in your car as well as under the hood and in the tail pipes.

I posted this before I hope this helps:
1. Keep in the garage (heated if you could).
2. Change oil and filter (Mobile 1).
3. Wash and clean car, detail including rubber, and wheel wells.
4. Check anti-freeze protection.
5. Clean garage where it's stored and put down plastic as a moisture barrier under the entire car including the tires.
6. Put on a good car cover on. Don't put anything on top of the car!
7. Disconnect the negative side of the battery. Charge up the battery. (I do this for my boat batteries I charge them half way through the winter again and then right before you start it! Or a battery tender.
8. Don't start the car until spring, it will be fine! I do not recommend running the engine because a warm engine creates water condensation when it cools down. But if you do start the car make sure it is at normal operating temperature before shutting it off.
9. I always put Stabil in to a full tank of gas run it to get through the fuel system. I do this for all my stored engines. Last up to 15 months.
10. Inflate tires to 5 lbs. over proper pressure.
11. I cover the exhaust pipes so nothing gets in there.
You can put in some moth ***** or Irish Spring or cedar for those little guys and some moisture protection bags in there.
If you remove the battery, put it on some wood. Don't put it on concrete!

**How about the insurance? Just need fire and theft? Why pay for more than what you need? Save yourself a bundle for next year!**

Take what you like from this.

I raise it a few inches and place blocks under all 4 frame corners, it takes the wieght off the suspension, with the tires still touching the ground.

Done the same things for a MG Midget that we bought in 1984, Corvette for two winters. So far no problems, except for mice now and then. I keep the Corvette and Midget in an unheated garage. Can not recommend Irish Spring, the mice ate it last year. Will try Bounce this year.

I've read in different places that it's not good to unload the suspension on our cars for extended periods of time. This was always good for conventional steel springs, but apparently not good for composite springs like we have. I leave mine sitting on the wheels, full weight.
