Default What's A 93 Ruby Worth ???

Haven't seen it yet. 15K miles, new opti , original tires. Owner says it clean, He's asking 24,500. Willing to take 22,500. Are Ruyb's worth 22K in excellent condition with the prices of vette going down.

I assume it's a coupe right? I would say if it's in perfect cond. it's worth 20k even...which is probably what he has in mind he probably put it at 24k to give him plenty of room to come down.

and if it's a vert with those miles it is worth about 22k.

but I say 20k max if it's a coupe

Yes, it is a coupe. I did offer 20K and he came back with 22.5K from 24.5K. I was going to look at the car today but it raining, Hopefully Sunday may be better. The car has original tires he said but no dry cracks. A good set would be around 8 or 9 hundred I guess. I still need to sell my 88 for some of the cost.

Keep working on him....22k with tires needing to be replaced is a touch too much maybe he will soften up and let it go at 20k.

You offered $20,000?
Why can't you be one of my customers?

Last spring I sold a 40th Z-07 6-sp coupe with 42K for $18,500

One mag. reference I have says $20.8k for a 30th Anna cope in excellent condition, which is 9% lower than last year's prices.

Original tires with mounting, balancing and 4-wheel alignment will run ~$1k (I just put new Eagles around on my '88). With tires maybe 1/3 gone, deduct $300, bringing the value to maybe $20.5k.

Check the RPO codes to see if it has any special options like FX3, selective ride control or AQ9, leather sport seats or Z07, adjustable ride control (includes FX3). These will up the sticker price.

Take a look at the car and if you really like it and condition is truely mint play it by ear.

BTW, you can typically get into a Vette for 20% down and a 6yr loan through one of the exotic car lenders. Soo, maybe you can have two Vettes in your garage.

Like others have said - 20k sounds right.

My ruby has 50k miles on it but is totally redone (Show quality paint job, rear, suspension, leather etc) some light mods, gears, LT, and Fikse wheels - I would let it go for 20k if someone offered it.

At that price point, why not a 90-91 ZR1 with < 35k miles.

The rubys are nice, but the ZR1 will hold it's value better.

15K on a Ruby is great but the owner/seller better be able to back it up with all documents and papers including previous owners and a clean CARFAX. My Ruby 'Vert just turned 29K and has been pampered, but driven since I purchased it from the second owner seven years ago. I have every document I could find including the original build sheet and owners portfolio including the VHS tape.
$22,500 for a Ruby Coupe is a great start but if things get serious, you might want to check the following since these parts and trim pieces are getting rare and expensive for a Ruby:

1. Tires: if they are the original GSC's they are over 11 years old and should be replaced regardless of the miles. Keep in mind that they no longer make the Goodyear GSC's in 255/45 and 285/40 sizes.

2. Trim pieces like 40th anniversary badges on the fenders and the Ruby center caps on the saw blades are getting big $$$$.

3. Since the interior would only be Ruby leather sport seats, check the wear on the driver and passenger side bolsters. Plus, make sure all adjustments work, all six way, plus side bolster motors and inflatable lumbar support.

4. Check all the carpeting including frame rail for wear. Again, another big expense to replace. Check to Delco Bose and make sure all speakers work including CD player.

5. All buttons and switches should be intact not missingvand the DIC should light up properly. If it has LTPW system, make sure it it working and has not been disconnected. The sensors for some wheels are no longer available.

6. With only 15k the front headlights should be plastic lenses since they were OE. Make sure the lights open and close quickly and line up properly. If not the gears could be shot which again is quite expensive to repair.

I could go on but you may want to check the 40th anniversary website and see if the Ruby was ever registered and in what state. You just need the last six digits of the VIN. I think the Ruby is a great color and option code and I always get

Good luck and if you have any other questions, please post them and I'll try to help. Further, let us know if the deal works out.

With only 15K on the clock, That "new opti" bothers me. I personally would not pay mor than $18,500 if the tires need replaced. My Ruby has 34,358 miles on it, almost new tires, etc. It is NOT for sale, but if it were, I would be thrilled to get 17,000 for it.

Yeah, a new opti at 15k doesn't make sence.
Theres a Ruby here for $11,300 with all the opts 6 spd and full service records. The mileage is 98k. www.autotrader.com 95018 It has a lot miles but its half price.

For 22k I'd buy a C-5.
If you buy it don't drive it. Tires try Kuhmos.

You would be buying a POS then. A nice c5 convertible is still 30k Imean if you want a 80k mile coupe with base everything for 22k it might be possible but it would be like these people buyingf 95- 96 c4's for around 10k, it would be a crappy vette.

Someone said " You only get what you paid for " 20 K may be just a bit high for a 93 Ruby. Condition and what records the owner can produce will be a factor. I know once I see it, I'll
