It was an awesome day for a drive in the wine country yesterday...so that is what we did. Every thing was great..the weather (70's clear and fall colors everywhere), the company, and the car was running better than ever. My wife had her hand resting on the center console as we were cruising through Napa, and must have been leaning on the window switch. Suddenly I smelled smoke...the electrical kind.
I looked down and it ws pouring out of the console, through the passenger side power window switch. The mellow day just got way too exciting. I pulled over and shut every thing off...hoping whatever it was would stop burning. Thankfully it did. The power window is dead but it could have been so much worse.
The day was still great ...but I after the incident I was in repair mode and kept smelling whiffs of ozone and melted insulation all the way home. I think I will be tearing into the console today. Looks like the cost of a switch is about $10...Another awesome day in a Vette...priceless! (I hope that is all that is fried.)
