A couple of weeks ago there was a thread about G Tech Pro's on EBay for $49 and they were all gone by the time I got there. I saw an ad for them at the same price in this weeks issue of AutoWeek magazine. Got one tonight at www.jadeals.com. Just in case anybody else wants one...

That is actually the older model... but still a good deal. I have one that was only used once. I paid $125 for it new a few years back, now I'm lucky if I could get $40 for it.

No offence but I dont think you missed out...maybe just didn't look hard enough, because Ebay still has like a zillion of them for $39.95
i know there is a much more feature rich version nowdays but do them 40 dollar pros actually work?
they still seem like they would be good for reference after modding etc.
no?
Got one from Ebay last month for $39.95 . Used it over ten times and have got my monies worth so far. What it does is... gives you 0-60 times and also gives you 60-0 times. I've used it for my brakes (upgrades) and a baseline for acceleration.

The model that is being discussed in this thread is a good performance reference. A person like me that can not afford to a ton of mods all at once... or just wants to see if a certain setting or part makes a difference + or - can use it to determine that info.
It does beat having to pay the local dyno shop $50 a shot just because you changed an air filter. Otherwise... it is realatively accurate, but I wouldn't base my claimed performance on what it says.

They work pretty well. I also got one for $39.95 on ebay and as advertised they measure 0-60mph and 1/4 times and 1/4 mph, They also measure 60-0 braking, horsepower, instantaneous G's and continuous G's.
The only reference I have as of yet is it's comparison with my 0-60 and 1/4 times and mph at IHRA track and it is accurate to a couple of tenths. I havent compared it's hp measurement abilities with a dyno yet but would like to.
This is the older model for $39.95 I am discussing and the newer one has a fancy digital graph and software and pc link but it cost like $289 I believe.
All in all I'd say the $39.95 gtech pro is a handy and fun little tuning aid and is definetly worth $39.95. I like it and it's simplicity, just plug it into cig lighter and go.
