hearing this stuff makes me feel sick! One person ran another person over with their car and maimed them. the injured person should recover everythig spent on his rehabilitation and damages.

my sister-in-law was hit by a state trooper on a call. lights, no sirens. he hit one car, when running a red, spinning that car out hitting my sister-in-laws car.
she got chump change.
sueing police, and government in general, is a problem - you run into this thing called "soverign immunity". Pretty much means they can **** up anyway they want, and not be held responsible for it.
There have been times when police make mistakes and shoot the wrong person. Sad, yes, but inevitable. When police are exposed to risks, accidents happen.
If the police had to worry about every little error, then there would be chaos...
your friend can honestly hope for coverage for losses. medical bills, expenses, property damage, lost wages, atty fees. Other than that, I doubt it.
