This thread is for ALL
Objections about mods highly excepted, the purpose of this post is to put mods, there price, and rate them by HP gain for me and future members. the article I read in the other post has me worried it aint cheap to make it go fast. Also, where is the link to a picture of the cut filter cover?

Time for the BBQ: I've been thinking abouthow to set off the car at night (say at the end of a show and shine) I saw a car that put mirrors next to all the wheels to really show off the crome, etc. I was thinking that with no other light source (pitch black) it would look cool to have the blue neon coming from under the car and onto the mirrors to light up the car, since it's also blue. Kinda like an artsy thing, not necessarily the san fransisco treat.

But you could spend a few hundred bucks on a decent
exhaust upgrade (headers , performance mufflers) which
should get you the most bang for your buck..
From there look at cam and intake related mods...
Too many to list and too many variations thereof.
Exhaust is the best bolt-on for added HP and it
will be very noticeable..
Cut lid? Dont expect much
If it was that easy to get 5-10 horses out of the stock
motor, dont you think GM engineers would've just cut
it from the factory?

Unfortunately, we all think we are smarter than the automotive engineers and that we can do things with a Dremel to get horsepower that they never even dreamed of!!
My mods?
CAGS elim: 0 hp
Hurst shift ****: 0 hp
Hella H4s: 0 hp
HRE wheels: 0 hp
Kumho MX tires: 0 hp (see a pattern here?)
Hooker Aerochambers: 1 hp (est.)
KONI Sports: 0 hp
SBS Ceramic pads: 0 hp
rwhp: 311.3 on one Dynojet, 307.0 on another Dynojet.
I have plenty of power (notice I didn't say "enough" power), my mods are designed to allow me to USE it!

If you have an LTx motor... check out Bogus' sticky in the tech section and pay special attention to Nathan Plemmons performance page. It details damn near any mod you need to get 400hp to the floor.

Car manufacturers are forced by EPA clean air regulations to choke the intake and strangle the exhaust to get the required emission numbers. Restricting the airflow by not opening up the lid helps GM meet the EPA guidelines. The first and easiest mods most people do is improving air intake (cut lids, larger MAF's, K&N filters, etc) and reduce exhaust back pressure (less restrictive mufflers, cats, larger dia. exhaust pipes, etc). Tried and true formula for quick horsepower More in + More out = More HP.

Meeting emissions requires a very efficient engine...VERY efficient!
Choking and strangling does not result in an efficient engine. Ergo, the intakes (and exhausts, to a lesser extent) on our cars...the LT-series, anyway...are pretty good as they come from the factory.
We'll have to find our horsepower elswhere, I'm afraid...

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I have a 94 Vert Automatic and have only done a few things to it...1: K&N with cut lid (didn't really notice much but I can hear it breathe in better) 2: I bought a Hypertech power programmer...got it for $150- basically it changed my fan temps (car runs very cool now) and adjusted my shift points for a firmer shift...I am getting ready to have a transgo shift kit installed so I am going back to my stock computer config...
Thats about all I plan to do...the car is plenty fast for my driving needs!
Oh yeah, my BLOSE radio system went south...so I have been pouring $$$ into something that took a direction all its own trial and error wise!
CHeers!
Had somethin similar to that in my old Eagle Talon. Made it run really Lean. And ended up blowin the #2 piston all to hell the 1st time i went to the trakc in it. Didnt help that i turned a drag strip into an oval track. I must have gone 12 times down the track that day in 95+ degree heat.

If you just want to bump your horsepower for the street, a safe route is Edelbrock heads and cam package, and/or any other combo of 50 state approved parts.
With only 28,000 miles on your LT1, that would be pretty safe & reliable mod.

There is the link I mentioned earlier!!! take copious notes and you will run with the best of them!!!

If you are looking for acceleration then you might want to have a lower gear installed in the rear end. Then go with a performance torque converter. The next mod should be headers and performance exhaust.
After that the sky is the limit.
If you start to add it all up it just may be cheaper to sell and buy a ZR1 or Z06!
Of course we all know folks who own the ZR1s and Z06s who are looking for more power too!
The need for speed is a disease that is difficult and expensive to cure.
