took my vette to a tranny shop because when i get on it the rpms go up but the tires dont spin and i dont accelerate. it only happens when the pedal is down atleast half way. it shifts great other wise. they told me that when its doing that its missing and can give the wrog signals to the tranny. when it sitting at idle you can feel a realy light rumble but not enought to move the tach away from 500 rpm. i would asume this is normal because of the size of the motor. so i have no clue whats going on.
its got 77k. fuel filter huh. if the rpms go up but the car doesnt go foward faster, could that still be a miss. like maybe 7 out of the 8 cylinders are going or somthing?
Feels like any other car that is missing. Sorry can't describe it but it's not different than another type of car.
I had a plug wire that got slightly burned and caused a miss under acceleration. Sitting still it was fine, but when I started moving I guess the burned part moved closer to something metal.
Also I'd get another opinion on the tranny before digging into the other stuff. I don't think a miss would cause your trans symptoms, but I'm no tranny expert.
If you can't find an electrical reason for the miss, have someone checkout your cat. I had my main cat clog and while the car would start and drive, somewhere around 3000 rpm it felt like the tranny was going out, no power at all.
I don't know if you have pre-cats or not, but if you do have them check the main cat first then the pre-cats. They replaced my pre-cats and then it turned out to be the main cat
