My 1990 vette cuts out at 3800 rpm or when accelerating heavily.
I disconnected my alternator and the miss stopped. Can anyone please
explain this to me? This was no light miss but rather a heavy bog and
if I continued taking the engine to show some sort of power it would only get worse until it would not move. Ince it would die the car would start easily but turn off again within a couple of seconds.
Does the car run good without the Alt hooked up? If so I would say it's the alt. The reason it would act up at higher rpm is because thats when your alt is trying to make more power. Look at it this way, a shorted alt is easy to spin by hand, but the higher the rpm the harder it will be to turn, untill you reach a point that it will feel locked up. I hope that makes some sense.
