Default Interior light problem

On 1992, Door switches were changed but interior light stays on after closing doors. Light stays on for long time, eventualy it goes off. Where is the problem? What do I do next?

Check both of your door locks. Make sure that they are both straight up and down. Just put your key in and turn it back and forth until you think that they are straght. I had this happen to my 93. As soon as I did this the lights have not stayed on.

I don't think you have a problem. . According to the owners manual, the interior lights will stay on for 30 seconds after a door has been opened/closed

and it varies sometimes. I've had them stay on for 30 seconds and at other times they will go off immediately.

To make things clear, I just timed how long my lights stay on. I opened door, lights inside car came on, closed door, lights stil on, eight (8) min later, lights still on. Got cold and went home lights were still on. I remember when driving, lights stayed on for 15 or more mins. Any advise, is there another switch or something. I need real help with this.

its either the light switch in the hatch or you got a bad door switch, the door switches in these cars are really the worst parts on them, i had a 93' that i put 4 switches in before i got a good one and they were gm parts, not knockoffs.

I am having this problem intermitantky right now... I think it is the CCM which has the interior light timer built into it.

Do your doors lock when you put it into gear and drive (autos only)?

Do you interior lights stay on when driving?

The 8 min time out is a default meaning the comutor thinks you left them on and shuts them off for you... so you deffinatly have a problem. You will need to pull codes... contact BOGUS he has a diagnosis Tech Tip that may help you.

I need to check the manual... I think it's the courtesy timer. and it is separate from the CCM

Thanks for all input on this. Vette is 6 speed coupe, interior lights go off after 15 min or so, will work on door switches but before I do I hope to hear more from BOGUS.

Good advice

I was having the same problem with my '93 when I first purchased it. I could drive ten miles and the lights would stay on, other times even longer.

I found that when I purchased a PKE remote for the car and stopped manually locking the doors the problem went away. Not had any problems since, that was over eight months ago.
