I concur on the daniel stern setup.

After being thru 4 headlamp reflector /bulb combinations. Heres my conclusions

Best:

1. Bosch e-spec reflectors with CLEAR (not stupid fake HID blue tints) 100w/130w Narva bulbs. 10 gauge wiring kit with relays off the starter +(I left the 16 gauge wiring in plcae thru the headlight pivot though, too hard to change).

-Ive heard CIBIE is just as good or better than the Bosch E-spec reflectors-

2. Hella e-specs reflectors (I only ran these with stupid Matrix HID 90/100w simulator bulbs). Even though this is a quality piece, a low-high beam seperation problem exists with any bulb for low mount height vehicles like the Corvette.

3. REAL HID (yes, with ballasts and everything) in Bosch e-spec reflectors. This gave me a false sense of security. Everything close was lit up brilliantly. However it blinded you up close and in reality light was not making it far down the road where you needed it. It also blinded all kinds of drivers. Some people even honked loudly instead of flashing hi beams.

4. Diamond star conversion headlight reflectors with cheap matrix 90/100w bulbs. These were very cheap reflectors that had awful light pattern. Very poor, about equal to stock.

5. Stock

Worst

Good luck in your decision!

hmm,not as cool sounding as any of the above but i used some sealed beam plastic halogen jobbies from napa that were quite a bit better light than standard glass and about 1/5th the weight.
they cost around 25 bucks apeice if i remember right.
as soon as you pick the box up you notice the weight diff.

So are these Stern ones worth it?? CIBIE??? I would really like to lose the weight to save the motors.

I got the GE cool blue (I think thats the name) They are not BLUE for one thing, which was a major requirement on my part, and they are brighter. Weight wise, I dont know, but a few ounces here n there really doesnt matter.

(in the mood to be sarcastic)

So whats better? Saving the front of your car when you hit some road debris you cant see at night -until its too late...

Or saving weight on the headlights?

Ive never understoond the headlight weight vs. motor lifespan argument in Ecklers and mid-america catalogues. I think its a marketing gimmick to try to get you to buy something.

Kind of like the remote mount power antenna mast switch so you can listen to CD's with the antenna down 'for reduced wear and tear'.
Or the battery shield to prevent people from punching a hole in the battery thru the shark gill covers.

These catalogues just blow my mind. In addition to high shipping and handling charges (and charging you again S&H if a mistake in the order is made), they run a real ripoff business.

Although Im a big fan of weight reduction, this isnt a place you want to skimp at.
