Default Wheel question

I'm toying with the idea of getting 5 spoke rims for my 93 Ruby. I want the ZR1 style but I'm not sure what size I should get. The ones I found on ebay are 17 X 9 1/2". How will those fit on mine? they also state they are 56mm offset. I have no clue what offset means when it comes to wheels

Anyone have these, will my tires that are currently on my car fit on these wheels? I have stock rims right now (saw blades).

TIA

I can't imagine that these would not fit. Standard wheels for 93 were 8 1/2's in the front and 9 1/2"s in the rear, I believe and the Z07 option had 9 1/2" all the way around, and I believe the proper offset for the 93 would be 56mm.

Are you looking at the OE wheels ZR1's. They are a really good price aren't they? I know several guys here on the forum have bought wheels from them and I haven't heard any complaints.

I'm looking at the same ones for my 91..... My factory sawblades are 9.5's all around, with 56mm offset. teebee945 is right, your 93 fronts are 8.5, but I believe the wheels you have described would fit perfectly.

I just upgraded to the ZR1 wheels on my '92. I just switched the tires, stock size,(P275/40's) over to the new wheels. That's it for me. The offset is OK, 56mm is the stock offset anyway, so you're ok there. On a '93 though, they went to 17"x8.5" wheels in the front, and the stock tire size in the front was P255/45's) In '92 the wheels were all 17"x9.5" with P275/40's on all 4 wheels, so get 8.5's for the front, or you might need new correct size front tires. ( I'm not a tire size expert!)maybe you could keep the tires you have...So basically, the wheels themselves will fit the car, no problem whatsoever, just a tire size issue in front, and maybe someone else will post an answer for that!

OE is where I'm looking, and since I live just an hour south of them, and I dont make $60 an hour, it would pay for me to drive there and back to get them. The price is incredible. Hopefully the 8.5" tires will fit on the 9.5" rim. Looking at some website, it seems that it will not be a problem (keeping fingers crossed)

VW,

You should be just fine... Even with 8.5" sawblades up front, it should be a simple R&R (remove and reinstall) for the tireshop with the new wheels.

I agree ... you likely have at least 255 mm wide tires in front ... they will work on the 9.5 inch wide wheel.

They would look killer on your Ruby ... Personally, I would go for the fat ones (11" wheels out back) but you would need wider tires for those wheels.

Good luck Bra ... and be sure to post some finished pics!

One thing, I don't know what you're plans are for the original rims, but I kept mine, and wrapped them up in the boxes that the OE wheels came in, and they're sittin' in my attic for safekeeping! Just a suggestion...

Be careful with the 255 tire on the 9.5 rim. If you get too close to a curb, you will hit rim rather than rubber. Ideally for a 9.5 rim, you want at least a 275 tire, it gives a little more of a bulge.

I'll hold on to them for a bit, or put them up in C4 parts. This is all Kara's fault too for asking for exterior mods on her vette. I thought of wheels, now look what I'm doing

I've only hit a curb once, so hopefully I'll be fine. When the fronts need replacing, I'll definatly get the wider tire

VW, got the same wheels about 7 months ago. They've held up great (except for the one I used a brake dust cleaner on...long story short...don't use brake dust cleaner on your new wheels...just soap and water...and I put a coat of wax on them which helps keep the brake dust to a minimum). Totally changed the look of my car and I LOVE them. Here's a pic

Vetteweiser, even though you live close and would go and pick them up, it seems that I have read that they still charge you most, if not all the shipping charges.

By the way, happy birthday, my birthday is tomorrow.

Are the center caps the same as the OEM's??? If so, it would be kewl to use the Ruby center cap.

Thats interesting. I wonder how they would justify the shipping charge? I plan on calling them tomorrow to see if a phone deal is better than the ebay deal.
