Default need some help

Guys, I need some orientation regarding my 85 vette factory security, how it works ? I kind of confuse how the door locking mechanism works with the security when you key in. Also how this is affected when you disconncet the battery ?
Thanks in advance.

Default learned the hard way

I too have an 85 and after having to get the car towed twice because of my ignorance w/the alarm system I have educated myself somewhat on this system. When you lock the doors on these cars the system is armed. To disarm you must use the key to unlock the door. If you disconnect the battery after setting off the alarm the only thing you will do is silence the horn. The system will remain armed and the car will not start when you reconnect the battery. To show how dumb I was I didn't even know the car had an alarm until it went off in a shopping center parking lot after I'd had the car for a couple of weeks.

I too have an 85. Avoiding alarm problems has a simple solution. The best way to assure yourself that you will not have alarm problems, is to get rid of that POS and put in a good one. One of the first things I did when I purchased my car was to put in a Viper alarm system. I haven't had one problem with it and it also controls the rear hatch.
