Camera mount options
I don't really need the cross bar for safety / stiffness, it would just be in my way most of the time.

Used a product called "Ram Mounts" http://www.ram-mount.com/ and the only bolt in the rear of the car, the bolt that holds the targa-top storage bracket.
Basically, there is 1 bolt with 1 nut under that plastic cover, so I used some steel an did a very crude, but functional L just short enough to hide under the cover.
Then I used a ball mount from RAM, cut a small notch in the plastic, and mounted the ball to the L and put the cover over all of it...so you only see a ball sticking out of the plastic cover.
This is the RAM mount I use. http://www.ram-mount.com/drawings/rama101.jpg
One side is permanently mounted to the car, and the ball mount on the other side of the locking arm is mounted to the camera.
Now all my video is from the passenger side, but you still get good video from there. Drag racing the camera doesn't shake at all...but I've been on a couple of tracks in which the surface was rough and it shook the camera...so I used a little foam and pressed the camera against the pillar to keep it from shaking.
You'll find the RAM mounts incredibly strong, and really easy to use. I can mount the camera in about 20 seconds, and pull it out in about 5.
I'd show you pics, but the car is in storage sleeping for the winter. If you have any questions, shoot me a note.
Oh...here's a video using the mount. All in-car shots are using this setup.

He had a write up on it somewhere, but the pics should definitely help out.

C4DC, yes please send me some pictures of your solution. Nathan.Plemons@wku.edu

Have you stalled it lately?

Something tells me you and Jesse James wouldn't get along.
It installs with the stock equipment and used for racing harnesses, camera mount and fire extinguisher. Got mine used and love it. It also firms up the ride (reduces flex).
