Default 85 L98 timing info needed

Could someone please let me know what my 85 L98 timing is supposed to be set at? Also, does anybody know where I can get the emissions information sticker that goes on the radiator shroud? Mine is missing and that's where the timing info is located. Even my Helms says to "check the sticker" This sticker has been discontinued since 1993 and I've already tried Eckler's, MAM, Corvette Central, Zip, and the Paddock. Surely somebody reproduces these. If I am totally out of luck could someone copy the info and email it to me? Thanks in advance.

I run my 88 at 8 deg BTDC, but I have removed the precats and I gap my plugs at .050

I think factory is 6 deg BFTDC

Someone will be along in a minute to comment

6 degrees Before Top Dead Center (BTDC) is the stock spec.

That's checked with the engine idling and the EST wire disconnected.

That wire should be a black wire with a tan stripe located near the power brake boost. Somewhere under the booster between the booster and the block.

After reconnecting the EST (DISCONNECT AND RE-CONNECT THE EST WIRE WITH ENGINE AND THE IGNITION KEY "OFF"), you'll need to disconnect the battery for about 20 seconds to clear the error code that gets set when the computer detects the engine running with the EST disconnected.

Can't help with finding a sticker.

Jake

Hope this helps.

Do you think the NCM might have hard to find stickers like that?
Have you checked with your local dealership?

And they're right with the timing; the stick on my 85* says 6*BTDC. I actually have mine at 0*

Eliminate any chances of pinging.

I disconnected the knock sensor and did not want to run regular timing until I am comfortable with it. I'll eventually bump it back up to 6*

Thanks to all who replied, I can't believe somebody isn't reproducing these, they've been discontinued since 1993 according to the dealership.

If you go to Carlisle - there is a vendor that sells reproduced stickers of all kinds. I found a sticker for a friend that went on his 68 driver visor that many said did not exist. I do not know the name of the vendor - maybe someone else will chime in.

Good Luck.

Corvette Parts Online just responded to my note to them about availability, this sticker is going to be reproduced somewhere around the end of the year.
