good idea! I will try it...
What I do not understand is this:
you say " Once I get going on the freeway, it starts acting as a cowl induction deal, and air is rammed in."
How fresh air can go IN the engine bay if the car go in the direction of where the new opening is?
If the opening is in FRONT of the hood...
..I can't understand this cowl induction effect..

The windshield/hood area is a high pressure zone when moving. The area under the hood is a low pressure zone. The air will be forced into the gap between the hood and windshield, just like on a high-rise cowl induction hood.

Is that good, or bad? So air is going down into the hood, air is not coming up out from under the hood? Would this pull in rain to?
I wouldn't worry about it. How many thousands of cars (camaro, firebird, etc...) are running around with a cowl induction hood. Those older cars with carbs would also have to worry about geting water in the carb if it were a problem.
Not something I would be concerned about at all. I've never heard of anyone with a cowl hood having problems with water entering the engine compartment.
Conv90: google it up, but JCAIRE2 said it quite nicely. It's a neat deal. I left SOME stripping just to act as a gutter for when I wash my car, etc so it doesn't always run down the firewall.
