My 94 LT1 is basically stock, so I've been thinking about upgrades. The car is only street driven so I'm thinking about an LT4 hot cam and some 1.7 roller rockers. I've found info about how to install the RRs but how hard is it to put the cam in? Is this an all day job that can be done without prior experience of installing them? Besides the cam does anyone have a part number for the springs I need to upgrade to. I know they should be about .600 for the lift tolerance but haven't found a website that has all this stuff. Also any other parts I need to upgrade while I'm doing all this. The car has 150k miles and I think it has the orginal timing chain , any reccomendations on a replacement for that too ? TIA
Without prior experience, you are talking about a 3 to 5 day job, installing a camshaft into your 94.
try and find someone that has done it before to help yah. It's not really that hard but it's alotta work. and I'd label bolts with tape or put them in baggies. Nothings worse than spending 5 hours looking for a bolt
I'd start on Friday afternoon. Crank'er up on Sunday afternoon.
Test & Tune on Monday afternoon
That's about 3~4 hours Friday
All day Sat. removing/cleaning/painting parts & putzing around looking everything over really well
All day Sunday cleaning bolts, putting back together, etc.
Oh, I have a very well equipped garage to work in with all the tools, air wrenches, you name it,etc.
You going to degree that cam, right? You'll fudget around doing that a couple extra hours particulary leaning over the engine doing it. That's a RPITA with the engine still in the car, especially if you're over 50.
25 years old or less, piece of cake.
If this is your first time, allow a week of afternoons working on it after your day job.
Take it apart one weekend. Finish putting back together the following weekend. That won't be so painful.

And if you work like me... you are looking at 3 weeks to a months time Of course I work on a rate of 3 bolts removed to each beer I drink... or something like that... either way I don't get much done.
yes youll want a tune to take full advantage of the new cam heads etc!!!! if not you wont see really much gain and if its to radical itll have time idlein.
