I have a couple questions for those with more experience. Does anyone know how much a polished STOCK TPI set-up would be worth. I'm interested in buying one that I know is for sale and its in excess of $500.
Secondly, I currently have a brand new Holley Stealthram, and I'm looking for all of my options as it pertains to choosing an INTAKE.
I wish I would have kept the Superam that was on the car when I bought it but that's gone now.
I do not have first hand experience but was told the stealth ram does not work on a stock vette hood. I guess it is too tall. The superram is my intake of choice.
Holley's wont fit under the hood, unless you have the modified plenum box.
Stealthram is a mix of both the MR and SR characteristics, little less top end than MR, little less low end than SR. Very strong midrange power with the HSR.
Which you get depends on the engine characteristics you would like.
The stock TPI is probably worth half of what the asking price is.
The fact that its polished should not be passed on to you as the buyer in terms of the seller's investment to have that done.
With your mods, I would NOT put that thing on, wayyy to restrictive.
You're right, you should have left that SR intake on!
As for the Stealth Ram, you're going to need a high rise hood.

Having read some emails and posts I have another quick question. Does anyone kno of someone who does intake polising? and how much would it cost to have my Stealthram polished? I'm in the Atlanta, GA area. Shipping is always an option.

If I was closer, I'd do it for you. Look around for a professional shop. You may spend a few hundred, but it's worth it. Those bases are a nightmare to do.

The way it looks I'm going to keep the HSR. HAs anyone tried to polish one of those yet? It looks alot easier then a stock base and runner set-up.. I'm certainly willing to pay someone as long as its not more than the difference Holley charges for the factory polished intake.
Hate to be a wet towel, but it won't happen for the price difference. Companies like Holley, Edelbrock, etc. Get them done in mass quantities for (sometimes)less than the cost of materials if you tried to do it yourself. Worth it just to pay the extra cost for buying a polished piece. It will only be production quality, but it will shine.
Some new polished manifolds these days sell for the same price as a polish job themselves...Keep looking;you may find someone who will work with you.
i myself am in the process of polishing my stock plenum and dist cover, but i have opted to go with prepolished runners and i am leaning toward getting my bigmouth base and water neck powdercoated sterling silver should give the look of a coated header. not super shiny but nice and smooth as well.i have pics of the dist cover polished and mounted in my pics folder it does definatly look nice
