Okay..when I heard this all I thought was "Taken for a ride" but you guys tell me.
Freind of mine just bought matching 1990 vettes. One of which has the check engine light on solid.. he took it to some mechanic I have never heard of and that guy told him that the code was from "to high of an out put voltage on the ignition coil..due to aftermarket wires being the wrong resistance." My freind couldn't tell me the actual engine code present.
To me this just sounds like some jerk testing the "take me for a ride" waters for how much $$$ he'll be able to sqeeze out of him.
Am I off base or is there such a trouble code??
Any clue what the trouble code is? More times than not, The Forum can help him solve the issue given the code. There is a site that has trouble codes listed Trouble Codes for 85-91 Corvette that may help.
See that is just it...his so called mechanic told him this and never relayed the trouble code so I have no idea. Now If I had the code then I could fix his problem but ...I have never heard of such rubish and wanted to make sure I wasn't bashing some legitimate issue... but sounds like my knowledge and suspcitions are confirmed...this guy is trying to take my buddy for a ride...now I just hope I am not to late to stop the dadmage from being done...
