Default Primary Cooling Fan wire cut

While removing the upper radiator cover, i noticed that a previous owner had cut, and black taped, a green-yellow wire leading from a cluster of wires connected to the primary cooling fan. Anyone familiar with why this would have been done?

What year Vette??

The only reason that comes to mind is that he may have wired both fans together. That is a poor way to do that, which may be why it's not that way now.

What we need to know is what wire got spliced and where did the added wire go? Probably the previous owner installed a switch in the cockpit to allow the fan/s to be manually turned on.

I looked at the wire...it was definately taped into the primary cooling fan wires--black, and black red. Not orig. equip. according to the wiring diagram. no fan switch inside the cockpit either. The other end was bare and just tucked in. I could not tell by looking at the secondary fan if it was ever attached there, so i pulled it off. i think its right that someone wired the two fans together.
thanks,
Mark
