Dr. Gas 3" X-pipe.
I have a chance to buy this 3" Dr. Gas from a forum member and just wanted to make sure others have had success getting it to fit under their car, mine is 1996.
I am getting some custom work done so if it needs to move forward or backward in the system, no big deal. I am curious if it will actually fit in the area of the original resonator AND how wide the outside to outside distance is on the stock tubing. I realize it won't be an exact fit, just trying to get a feel for how "custom" custom will need to be.
I ordered mine from them. I don't know what the stock dimensions would be because I had SLP before the x-pipe, but my dims were pretty simple. It was 3" pipe, welded at 3" on center, and about 22 inches long I think. I can tell you exactly how long when I get home, but I am sure about the other dims.
PS the SLP was a stock cat-back replacement, so I can only ASSUME that the stock pipes were 3" on center.
I sent you an email with pictures of the 3" Magnaflow x-pipe I tried to use to replace the resonator on my B&B 3" system. Problem was the spacing was too wide to be a direct replacement...would have required some "fancy" offset pipes or redoing the whole system.....looks like the DrX has the same spacing as the Magnaflows...
Not sure what you are trying to do, but look very carefully about the centerline spacing between the pipes....and other clearance issues..
Trying to remember what you have now....no resonator on factory pipes with factory H-pipe??

Thanks Bud. You are correct with my current set up. I was hoping to cut out the tubes that were used to replace my resonator and use the x-pipe there. I don't mind needing to get creative, but don't want to use a mandrel to bend tubing. So, I was hoping it would be close enough to do with subtly angling the tubing to and from the x-pipe. It sounds like my original concerns are what you experienced.

I put together a group purchase with Dr Gas about 4 years ago (back when it was allowed by Forum members), and had them replace my B&B resonator with a 3" unit, and it was a direct fit. Mine looks just like TJ Wongs... it is the Tandem x-pipe.
I am the one selling the X-Pipe and I incorrectly listed it as a Dr. Gas when it is, in fact a Magnaflow. I purchased it from another forum member and PM'd him for conformation. I apologize for any misunderstanding that has resulted. I have PM'd the buyer and, if he doesn't want it, I will relist it properly. Thanks to all of you for correcting my mistake before I shipped it and money changed hands.
So what is the sound like after you guys added an X? How would you describe the change in sound?
On my car which has the 3" B&B system. The Dr. Gas X pipe mellowed the note a little and reduced resonance about 30%. It still roars at wide open throttle just like most B&B systems
